Lift interiors, Call Button panels and cladding

All of the sample profile sections shown above were created for a project in the Shangri La Hotel at the Shard. The architects and designers on this project created high-end specifications and the resulting interior has all the prestige that the designers demanded. However the fixtures are not solid bronze as they appear but VGrooved and folded coloured stainless steel.

There were several benefits of using V-Grooved material instead of solid bar for skirtings, panels, trims and fixtures instead of solid:-

• Costing around one fifth of the cost of solid bronze to produce over all
• Lighter, easier and cheaper to transport to site
• Enabling the fixtures to survive the Value Engineering process

Call Button panel in V-grooved and folded Bronze PVD stainless steel in the Shangri La Hotel at the Shard, London

MP04-O In Bronze Brush PVD coated 1.25mm stainless steel. This profile was used to create the look of solid bar material for the Shangri La Call Button panel.

V-Grooving for Retail Interiors - furniture and display

Architects and specifiers may want the look of solid material with all the sense of luxury that it conveys however problems with weight, bowing and cost make these specifications more practical if created from V-Grooved and folded material.

A significant saving is made on labour alone. The cost of labour for creating V-Grooved profiles is 12% of the cost of that of milling solid material.

The seating back brass panels were laser cut and V-Grooved to create a return of 1/4" depth for this Sam Edelman Californian shoe store by our US VGrooving partner Niconat.

With multiple store roll-outs the cost of display fixtures using solid material can make high-specification designs unobtainable. Using V-Grooved and folded profiles instead allows for a cost-effective roll-out programme.
